First Signs of Spring Arrive Home
As the early morning mist lifts and the sun burns through, a feeling of change dances in the air. Like a fresh start, the cool, crisp air of the now-earlier mornings begin to bring new energy to life, whether that be the trees, the tides, or the optimism that sits amongst us.
A few of our favourite spots to dine and refuel from coastal & country adventures really start to awaken after their dormant winter slumber. The first of which is The Loft Cafe in Coverack. Sitting above the harbour, this quaint little café spot is adorned with beautiful views, aesthetically pleasing, locally sourced crockery and trinkets, as well as a top-notch cup of joe. Open strictly all week to avoid disappointment for patrons who have travelled from miles around, The Loft has garnered a large following of committed fans, who venture assured that they will get a top-tier offering on arrival, often spreading the word on social media. This place is a must-visit whether you're exploring the coast path, or just dropping in on one of those slow afternoons, where time stands still.
Next up, we have Flora New Yard, a spot known by many. Whether it’s their breakfast and lunch menu, heavily influenced by Scandinavian flavour and design, enjoyed in the most tranquil stone-built café beside a toasty log burner, or their sophisticated but relaxed experience in the adjoining New Yard Restaurant, Flora offers a sense of community despite being tucked away from the many towns. People often want to feel part of something, and that’s no different here. Tim and Louise have really put their stamp on the place, and people have jumped on their vibe. Be sure to drop in for one of their idyllic Sunday roasts or an end-of-week morning feed. P.S. The pastries are a must-try!
Finally, we return to Potager, a place many call home, a spot that truly comes alive in spring. We’ve visited Pots many times and nipped back this weekend for a quick Sunday morning coffee in the sun and a catch-up. From the ever-changing seasonal menu, to the depth of homemade cakes in every flavour, there’s really something for everyone. Open Thursday through Sunday every week from now until the end of December, we’re sure many memories will be made as Pots embarks on another great year ahead.
If you visit these spots, and many alike, remember that these are independent businesses embedded in this beautiful countryside we get to call home. Every customer that walks through the door is valuable to longevity, and you really are what makes them thrive. Take your time here, be generous where possible, and always leave your troubles at the door, even if just for a moment.
